We are thrilled to be a finalist in the 2023 Tasmanian Volunteering Awards in the Best Practice in Volunteer Management category.
This award reflects CTST’s volunteer recruitment and onboarding processes, in particular the efforts of Michelle Howells, our People and Capability Business Partner who manages our volunteer program.
Last year, a comprehensive volunteer program was developed by Michelle to support and guide the onboarding of new volunteers and welcome them to the CTST team.
The program includes learning more about a new volunteer’s interests, skills, and availability upon inquiry. Information on the role, responsibilities, and what to expect while driving with us is discussed. New volunteers are also guided through an easy-to-navigate compliance process. In the transition to driving with us, new volunteers are partnered with an existing volunteer driver on a ‘buddy run’ so they can experience what driving with us is like and ask questions from experienced drivers.
The program also includes a volunteer survey which is conducted one month after volunteers complete their training and begin driving with us. This survey allows new volunteers to provide feedback on the entire onboarding and training process to help refine and best support our volunteers during their time with us.
CTST’s Volunteer Program is about delivering a well-supported environment so that volunteers can flourish and enjoy their time with us while they contribute back to their community.
The 2023 Tasmanian Volunteering Awards will be announced at a celebration event held at Government House in Hobart on Friday 19 May 2023.
The awards coincide with National Volunteer Week and celebrate the people who volunteer and give back to their community.
