During National Volunteer Week events, we celebrate and recognise our volunteers in the North West
This week we celebrate our amazing CTST volunteers at various events held around the state as part of National Volunteer Week.
Our celebrations began late last week with a wonderful reception in Burnie to bring together our volunteers in the North West region.
During this celebration, we announced the recipients of the Doug Cooper Volunteer Recognition Awards as nominated by our consumers, employees, and volunteers.
We are delighted to announce that Alan Rogers is the recipient of the Doug Cooper Award for the North West region.
Alan is a brilliant all-rounder and a highly regarded driver known for his ‘can do’ attitude and helpful nature.
“Alan is always willing to go above and beyond, to think of safety first, and our consumers enjoy being driven by him.”
Because of You awards were presented to:
Lexie Nichols - for “the care and consideration she shows our Out& Abouts consumers, and her ability to go that extra mile.”
Graham Hickmott – for his support of new volunteer drivers through our training program and “setting them up for success”.
In addition to Alan, Lexie and Graham, we recognised the following Doug Cooper Award nominees:
Ali Smith – for her care and kindness towards consumers – “Ally is pleasant, friendly and helpful and makes all passengers feel welcome”.
Doug Hay – a great allrounder and known for his helpfulness, “Doug is always happy and helpful, nothing is too much of a bother for him”.
Congratulations Alan, Lexie, Graham, Ali and Doug, and all our wonderful volunteers in the North West who keep our consumers connected and living in their community.
Later this week we will hold a volunteer celebration in the south, with other receptions to follow in Launceston and Queenstown.
The awards are named in honour of Doug Cooper, a long-standing and well-respected board member and volunteer of CTST. Doug was the first to receive life membership for his 20-plus years of service. His aim was to provide quality transport for our consumers and ensure that our volunteers were supported in their role with us.
