Community Transport Services Tasmania (CTST) has extended its service in Queenstown to include a new weekly shopper shuttle from your home to the centre of town each Thursday.
The Queenstown Shopper Shuttle Service will begin on Thursday9 February and cost $5 for a return journey.
The service is eligible to people who have transport assistance through My Aged Care (over 65 years of age, over 50 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders) or who are on the Home and Community Care (HACC)program (under 65 years of age, under 50 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders).
The shuttle service can be used for shopping, to go to the pharmacy, Service Tasmania, Council, the Library, Post Office, bank, to attend medical appointments, or to have a coffee or lunch catch up with friends at a local café or hotel.
“With no taxi service available on the west coast, we have decided to implement this service so that people still have access to transport and can remain independent and connected in their local community,” said Lyndon Stevenson, CEO of CTST.
“We received feedback from our staff and volunteers that this service would be helpful for locals to get around town, particularly if there were mobility and health issues.
"The shuttle service will provide peace of mind and convenience of travel. We hope people make good use of this service."
Transport will be in a seven-seater iMax and there is a fold-down step and handle to allow for easy access into the vehicle.
A CTST driver will pick you up from your home in the morning and drop you back later in the afternoon. The first pick up will be at 9am and4pm will be the last drop off.
If you are already registered with CTST, call 1800 781 033or Julie in the Queenstown office on 6208 8545 to make a booking. Bookings will need to be made by 4pm on the Tuesday prior to travel.
